DESCRIPTION

Welcome to the World of Clay!

This is a 2-day workshop of 2.5 hours each that is designed for children aged 6-12 years old who will be attending without any accompanying parents or adults.

9 March 2024: 10 am - 12:30 pm

10 March 2024: 10 am - 12:30 pm

Clay is a unique medium that unites the head, heart and hands. This 2-day workshop is a great way to offer your children the opportunity to craft with this tactile and versatile material.

With expert guidance, the children will learn various hand-building techniques to create a wall décor project involving birds and animals.

Children will receive an allotted amount of clay and tools to work with. The 2-day workshop fee includes all materials - the cost of clay, two firings, glazing, and pigments.

The young artists will have the chance to decorate their pieces the next day.

It's important to note that the clay pieces will need to dry and undergo two firing processes—the Bisque and Glaze firings. Therefore, the finished pieces will be available for collection at a pre-scheduled time and date. We will apply a transparent glaze to the bisque-fired pieces.

Embracing the inherent messiness of clay work is part of the fun and learning process. We recommend that children come dressed in old clothes, socks, and shoes to immerse themselves in the creative process. Aprons will be provided to protect their clothing.

The Benefits of Working with Clay:

Sensory Development: The malleability of clay makes it an excellent medium for tactile learning. Children will develop their sense of touch and learn to shape and mould the material with precision.

Hand-Eye Coordination: The art of moulding clay enhances children's coordination and fine motor skills, as it requires them to use their hands and eyes in harmony.

Sense of Achievement: There is a profound sense of accomplishment in completing a clay project. Children can see and feel the results of their efforts, which bolsters their creative confidence and eagerness to embrace new challenges.

Multiple workshop dates and times:

Please note that this 2-day workshop is offered on multiple dates and times. Children are welcome to attend further sessions to refine their skills, learn new techniques, and create additional clay pieces.

Language of instruction: English and German
